My EB1A Experience

Hello American Dream seekers! My name is Angela and I’m an abstract artist from New Zealand. My spouse and I arrived in the United States in 2016. Back there I was on a F-2 visa, a dependent of my partner’s student visa. As an art professional I was actively involved in numerous exhibitions and other art events throughout the United States. However, due the restrictions applied on my status I wasn’t allowed to work in the country legally, including selling artworks and accepting commissions from local companies. This nuance also applied to local commercial galleries that couldn’t represent me as an artist. As I am a successful and highly productive individual with a rich national and international background it was extremely challenging to work and maintain my studio practice in the United States freely.

Keeping all this in mind, I started to search for an opportunity to change my status in order to get freedom from those restrictions. Being an internationally acclaimed and independent artist, the only obvious option for me was an employment-based, first-preference visa for an alien of extraordinary ability, an EB-1A. This type of visa allows an individual to acquire the status of a permanent resident or, in other words, a green card. After briefly reading the description on USCIS’s official website, I got a feeling that only extremely famous individuals, like Yayoi Kusama, or Nobel prize laureates can be qualified for this type of visa. However, after profound research I figured out that EB-1A was originally intended not only for celebrities, but for any foreign individual who demonstrates extraordinary ability in their field, whether the sciences, the arts, education, business, or athletics and got international or national recognition by the industry.

As a perfectionist I always put in all of my effort, time, and energy in order to achieve my goal and deliver the best product quality possible. Working on the petition and getting a green card wasn’t an exception as I completely devoted almost half a year of my life to this process. My husband and I literally worked for up to 10 hours daily studying the legal side of this issue, getting inspired by reading successful cases, analyzing failures and, of course, gathering necessary information and evidence to prove my international success. Despite the fact that I am not a lawyer by training, the knowledge that I gained throughout the process is absolutely invaluable and it would’ve been selfish not to share this copious guidance, that has absolutely no analogues on the market, with people around the world that are going through the same process. I wish I had had the opportunity to buy something like this while working on my petition.

I also should mention that the main goal of this website is not simply making a profit. I sincerely feel a burning desire to share my successful experience, knowledge, and tips with everyone who is on this difficult path and needs guidance and support. For the reasonable price you pay for the DIY guide, you will get invaluable information that helps you not only in saving thousands of dollars on the services of a lawyer as well as properly structuring the work of collecting evidence, but also in saving a huge amount of time and energy you can use for making more art! If you are a representative of a creative profession and especially the one in which the opinions of experts prevail in the description of achievements rather than specific facts such as discoveries or inventions in science, this guide is your best friend. There are simply no similar examples of letters of recommendation for an independent artist on the Internet that will serve as the basis for your petition. Those letters are fundamentally different from letters of recommendation from a regular employee working for a company. In addition, some points such as evidence of your participation in exhibitions, and membership criterion are very specific to artists. It is also worth noting that the petition itself has a slightly different format than the petition of a scientist or researcher, even if it might be helpful for any professional.

In my petition, which was approved in just 6 days, I proved 7 out of 10 points – almost every single point that has been applicable for artists. However, for this specific guide we also provide comprehensive information regarding all other criteria that you might want to prove. So, you will have an opportunity to get not only an approximate description of the necessary evidence, but examine each item with specific examples, templates, and tables.

I consider my petition as a work of art because it is not just a document that fully satisfies the legal side of the issue, but also contains the art of storytelling with a personal touch. And I want yours to be the same! I am absolutely sure that if I were able to make it possible for myself, you can get it too, especially using the DIY that the Artist Visa USA team and I provide for you.

Just remember, if you have the necessary qualifications, self-confidence, and a genuine desire to get your green card as an extraordinary artist, then become unstoppable on the road to your success.
